Benjamin Weil (US)


 

Benjamin Weil is an art critic and freelance curator. He co-founded the äda web digital foundry in late 1994, and was its director until its demise due to lack of funding. He is currently curator of media arts at SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), where he oversees collecting, gallery exhibitions, live arts, sound events, film screenings, and projects in the E.SPACE virtual gallery. He is also curatorial chair for Eyebeam, a new media arts organization based in New York. Weil has lectured and published on evolving curatorial practice in new media art, the role of institutions, and new models of financial support for emerging art forms.
