Stefan Merten (Kaiserslautern, Germany) works as a computer scientist and software engineer. He has been engaged in the political scene in several ways since 1989 (it was by chance that it was in 1989 - and not the result of the fall of the Berlin wall).

In the summer of 1999 he founded and is currently maintaining Projekt Oekonux, which explores the possibilities of free software to lead to a form of production beyond capitalism.
