Alexandar Battista Ilic (Croatia)

 

ALEKSANDAR BATTISTA ILIC was born in 1965. He studied at the Fine Art Academy in Zagreb (1986-92). In 1992 he organized a group exhibition EgoEast in Zagreb in collaboration with Ivana Keser. Battista Ilic works with context and space. He makes series of photographs, performances and films. From 1996 to 2000 he initiated Weekend Art: Hallelujah the Hill, a series of photographs based on performance taken exclusively on Sundays on the hill Medvednica near Zagreb together with Ivana Keser and Tomislav Gotovac. Ilic has participated in exhibitions including After the Wall (1999, Moderna Museet, Stockholm) and Body and the East (2001, Exit Art, NY)
